Discover the world of Evorath, a magical land with a diverse population of creatures. As you pay a visit to Erathal forest, everything looks nice and peaceful on the surface. With his first fantasy epic, author Joseph Macolino demonstrates that what you see on the surface is not always what you get.
Meet Artimus, the head investigator for the elvish kingdom of Erathal who begins to notice the flaws in his apparently perfect society. As he develops feelings for Savannah, a beautiful elvish druid hiding an important secret, he struggles to separate his personal feelings from his responsibilities to the kingdom.
In a nearby center village, the young warrior Irontail struggles to distinguish himself in a tribe where independent thought is discouraged. When their paths cross, they both discover that their own people's shortcomings may be the least of their concerns. Putting aside their own personal troubles, they must fight against the clock to ensure the very survival of their peoples. As they work towards this common goal, they find that they each have their own, unique gifts to offer. But, will they be strong enough to survive?
The first tale of many taking place in the world of Evorath, this series gives readers the thrill of a fantasy epic while introducing heroes that probably have more flaws than they do good. One thing is for sure at the end of it all, nothing will be the same.
The Birth of Death Evorath Joseph P Macolino 9781475028836 Books
The author has some working parts, but the story doesn't move as a cohesive unit. It's clear that "the System" must have really screwed him over once or twice as his ham-fisted anti-government sentiments derail the plot on more than one occasion. The romance is awkward, the viewpoint shifts are unnecessary, and the villain, like all great monsters, would be better if he had less screen time.At the core there is an imaginative high fantasy world in Evorath, which people are bound to enjoy. I, however, will skip the rest of this trilogy.

The Birth of Death Evorath Joseph P Macolino 9781475028836 Books Reviews
This is a strong first novel for aspiring author Joe Macolino. His imaginative world of Evorath draws in the reader and leaves them looking for more.
While it may be the authors first book, The first installation in the Evorath series has proven to be an exciting beginning to what is sure to be an epic adventure.
Was an okay read more disappointed with the Character development on the bad guy.
This book drew me in from the first page. The author writes in such a way that you can immediately picture every last detail. The charecters are well rounded and the plot moves at a quick pace. I'm looking forward to the next installment in this fantasy series!
I love this book! It is so creative and imaginative and I generally am not that fond of fantasy/Science Fiction or anything close to that genre. I feel that this writer has given much thought to his characters and story line. It is refreshing to read material that you know came from someone's imagination and was not ripped off of another book or movie. Bravo!
Although 'The Birth of Death' is the first book that I have stumbled upon and finished by Joseph Macolino, I am almost certain that it will not be the last - mainly because the well-refined and visually rich nature of the writing style combined with the original and clearly well thought out plot have put this author almost to the top of my 'must read' list already; I will definitely be looking out for more, and I'm very excited to see how the author is going to make the story play out with future installments.
I think I'm near the point where I can decide early in a story whether a book is going to be a straight 'miss' or 'hit' for me personally, based on a few simple things that I look out for from the beginning. Thus, I felt that I knew within the first couple of chapters that I had started reading an absolute top quality work, which essentially had me hooked from start to finish. I originally was recommended this book by a friend and although I was slightly skeptical about her praise at first, I now am aware of what all the fuss is about and, ultimately, I consider this more than a worthwhile read and worth the compliments.
It's not hard to tell that Joseph Macolino has read plenty of fantasy works in his time and truly has a passion for the genre, I say this because the literary devices are pulled off near-flawlessly and I think this is the type of read that even the most critical fans of the genre out there could appreciate and respect. In summary, I'd give The Birth of Death a strong 9/10 - there were a few minor parts that could have been elaborated on more, but other than that, the book's pros very strongly outweigh the cons - and I consider it to ultimately be a five star read in the end.
Before you start reading this book, be sure that you don't have anything to do for a few days! Once you enter the kingdom of Erathal you won't want to leave.
Artimus, Irontail, and Savannah were well fleshed out characters each with their own unique voice. I love it when characters from a book feel like real people and you can connect with them. Since this is an epic fantasy an entire world had to be built, and sometimes that means page upon page of information before the story can get started. Not with The Birth of Death. Great vivid world building, with no information dumps!
Overall it was a solid five stars and I can not wait for the next installment.
